About the Venue:

The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center is the largest dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation, and return Center in the region, serving as an advanced knowledge hub for marine science. Building on SeaWorld’s legacy of being one of the largest marine animal rescue organizations in the world, The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center aims to bring their 60 years of experience and knowledge in marine animal care, rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation to the UAE and wider region.

Field Trip Objectives

WEEC guests will have the opportunity to engage in various learning experiences to explore the various specialisms of the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center.   You will leave with a deeper understanding of The Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center’s mission and vision as well as how we run our three, integrated pillar programs: Rescue, Research, and Education. 

 

Itinerary:

  1. Arrival, networking, and light refreshments
  2. Presentation by Dr. Elise Marquis, Director of Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center
  3. Carousel of 3 learning experiences:
    1. Tour of the center
      1. How we receive & care for our rescue animals as they go through the rehabilitation and release journey.
      2. Our research program: aquaculture and marine ecology (including corals and seagrass)
    2. Rescue! Program
      1. Experiencing the program as a student, learning about the science behind rescues & how you as a citizen can help rescued wildlife.
  1. Plankton Program
      1. Experiencing the program as a student, learning about how plankton is an integral part of Ocean Ecology and its benefits to life on earth.
  1. Conclusion
    1. Question and answer session with Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue scientists, rescue team, and educators.
